Sara Sammakia is a UK-based contemporary artist whose dreamlike paintings explore the profound connection between nature, emotion and the quiet process of becoming. Working within the language of modern pop surrealism, Sara creates symbolic worlds that invite viewers to slow down, reflect and reconnect with the softer parts of themselves.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art in 2012, Sara has developed a distinctive visual language centred around original beings that embody the instinctive wisdom of animals and the resilience of the human spirit. Through oversized, soulful eyes and delicate storytelling, her work explores healing, transformation and our shared desire to grow.

Her latest body of work, C₆H₁₂O₆ – The Chemistry of Becoming, draws inspiration from the molecule that fuels all life. Rooted in the rhythms of nature, the series reflects on how growth often happens quietly, through small acts of resilience, hope and renewal. Each figure carries an animal exoskeleton - not as armour, but as sanctuary - and a living moss crown that symbolises the unseen strength forming beneath the surface.

Sara’s work is grounded in the belief that we are not separate from nature, but part of it. Like the forest, we adapt. We shed what no longer serves us. We heal. Through each painting, she offers a gentle reminder that transformation does not always arrive with force… sometimes it unfolds softly, season after season, as we continue becoming who we are meant to be.
